Close to Our Vines

Located in the small commune of Mutigny, our family-run estate spans 5 hectares of vineyards, cultivated with respect for the nature and biodiversity surrounding us.
For us, being a winemaker is more than just a profession.

Our 5 hectares are divided into 35 distinct plots across the terroirs of Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, Avenay Val-d’Or, Aÿ, and Mutigny. Each of these terroirs brings a unique character to our wines during blending. We grow the three Champagne varietals: Pinot Noir (80%), Meunier (5%), and Chardonnay (15%).
Our work in the vineyards goes beyond technical gestures. With an average vine age of 45 years, we aim to achieve optimal maturity.

A Balanced Viticulture

Two guiding principles shape our vineyard management: rigor and efficiency. To care for our vines, we combine traditional tools and methods with modern tractors, ensuring we have the right equipment for every plot and task. For soil cultivation, we use vintage bidourets paired with a 1966 DEROT tractor, along with the latest hydraulic inter-row tools.

Preserving the Earth, Protecting the Vines

We are fully aware of the importance of preserving the environment. That’s why we have been mechanically cultivating our soils without chemical herbicides since 2014. Our soils are alive and aerated, fostering a thriving biodiversity.

Since the early 2000s, we have chosen a herbicide-free approach in our vineyards, specialized plowing tools, which we extended to all our plots within three years.

When progress supports the ecosystem, we are motivated: as one of the first members of the zero-herbicide network in 2015 and now HVE-certified, we are committed to enhancing Champagne's reputation through our practices.

Natural Treasures

A wild asparagus plant grows naturally among the vine rows, affectionately called "asparagus vines" by Xavier. Other wild plants, such as garlic, wild carrot, and sorrel, also grow spontaneously between the rows.

More unusually, Xavier has spotted aristolochia, or "Mutigny beans," in the vineyards, with their small, bell-shaped yellow flowers reaching up to 30 centimeters in height.

At our house, every moment spent tending to our vines is precious. Our commitment to the quality of the grapes and the authenticity of the terroir is reflected in our champagnes.
